Deal Sharks is a game by Lennart van Wimersma Greidanus, Rotterdam, the Netherlands ("I"). This page says what the game keeps on your phone, what it sends, and why. The short version: no account, no ads, no tracking, and nothing that says who you are.
On your phone
The name you play under, your settings, your career, your companies, your episodes and your trophies are stored on your phone. Delete the game and they are gone.
What the game sends
Anonymous counts (TelemetryDeck). To see what works, the game counts things like "an episode was played", "the Pitch of the Day was shared" or "a player came back on day 7". Each count carries a random number made on your phone, scrambled with SHA-256 before it leaves the phone, so it can't be traced back to you or your phone. No name, no text you type and no IP address is stored. TelemetryDeck is a German company; see telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
The game's own small server (Supabase, in the EU: Ireland). For the parts you play with everyone:
- the Pitch of the Day: what you chose (invested, outbid or stayed out), to show how everyone chose;
- the Show of the Week: your score, to show your place among everyone;
- the Flash Pitch: your call, to show how everyone called it;
- the Monthly Cup: your stars, to show your place this month.
Each of these carries a code your phone makes from a random number and the day (or the week, the window, the month), so one day can't be linked to the next. No name and no account. Like any server, it sees the internet address a request comes from; the provider keeps that in its technical logs for a short time, for security, and the game itself never stores it.
A season with friends (only if you start or join one): the name you play under in that season, and what you made in each episode, so your friends see the table. Your phone is a scrambled code per season, so seasons can't be linked. A season is deleted once it has been over for a week, and when you leave a season, your name and results leave with you.
Crash reports (Sentry), when switched on: what went wrong in the game when it crashed, without your IP address or name.
Game Center (iPhone): if you're signed in to Game Center, your scores go to Apple's leaderboards. That's Apple's service, under Apple's privacy policy.
Reminders are planned by your phone itself; no server is involved. Your age group (adult or not), if your phone shares it, stays on your phone.
What the game never does
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of data, no account, no contacts, no location, no camera or microphone.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what is stored about you and have it deleted. Because nothing the server keeps says who you are, it can't be found by your name. For a season with friends, leave the season in the game and your name and results are deleted. Questions: {{CONTACT_EMAIL}}.
Children
The game has no chat and no way to contact other players. It doesn't collect personal data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is on this page with its date.
